BRITAIN COMES UP TRUMPS AS RED RUN SNATCHES BEST ACTION AWARD
Last night (Thursday 15th October), The Rise of the Drones Film Festival revealed its winners at a screening in front of hundreds of members of the public. The event was arranged by EpicTV – the online action and adventure sports media group – and DJI – the world’s biggest drone manufacturer.
Whilst the night celebrated action sports from across the globe, the evening started with a nod to British talent as London production company Salt Street collected the first award, Best Action, for their film Red Run.
Best Editing went to Call To The Wild, featuring George Bruce Wilson’s passionate plea to close the computer and go climbing. Aptly named for a one-take video featuring Scotty Broome shredding the waters of Lake Tarnita, Romania, Best Single Aerial Shot was given to One-Take Wonder.
Finally, Best Film was awarded to Project Jura – capturing the very best of the Western Alps region as Joonas Vinnari biked through the picturesque region around Jura Mountain.
Alan Sim, EpicTV’s Executive Producer and member of the judging panel commented, “we had over a hundred films enter the festival from all over the world. From Kite surfing in Namibia, surfing in South Korea to snowboarding in Sheffield… Really incredible films for the first year of Rise of the Drones. We really cannot wait to see what 2016 brings”.
Martin Brandenburg, Marketing Director at DJI Europe said: “DJI is proud to partner with EpicTV in the world first drone film festival around adventure and action sports. With over a hundred entries from 20 countries and across 28 different sports, the awards and screenings in both London (UK) and Chamonix (France) are aiming to be a big success, showing once again how drones are taking an important part in the world of filming”.
